Los Chavez Animal Rescue News Bulletin

Our online newsletter contains informations about organizational activities, along with articles relevant to our organization's mission.

Los Chavez Animal Rescue had responded to the recent Bosque Fire and helped evacuate animals with the help of other rescue organizations. No animals lost their lives due to our effort and one cat was found with burns on his back paws, we treated and could not locate the owners, so we put hime up for adoption and was adopted.

Adoption Fairs will be held at:
Los Chavez Animal Rescue in Los Lunas, by appointments only.

During the year of 2001, Los Chavez Animal Rescue has made a difference in the lives of many animals. These animals have been rescued and placed into better homes. To date, we have rescued over 750 animals, including dogs, puppies, cats, kittens, geese, and a turtle. Many required intensive medical treatment for eye infections, heartworms, upper respiratory infections, ear mites, ear infections and ringworm. Most have been treated and cured.

Chocolate, a brown Shar Pei, rescued from a puppy mill, abused, abandoned, blind from eye infection, and heart worm positive. She was brought here, and was taken to the veterinarian for eye surgery, and later was given heart worm treatment. She came to us in April, and now she is spayed, vaccinated, treated for heart worms, she no longer has them, and is now starting to see shadows and other movements. Chocolate is adopted into a new home in Lake St. Louis, MO.

Lady, is a Australian Border collie, Australian Kelpy mixed, she was dumped at the train station in Belen, badly beaten, abused, and abandoned, she came here as a safe haven and we began working with her with love and patience, for a long time she could trust no one, not even me. After months of working with her, caring for her, she came out of her shell and now is a normal happy dog. She too was heart worm positive and also been treated for it. She finaly got adopted into a good home in May 2002.

A turtle was hit by a car that cracked the shell, we brought it here, put the two pieces together and put fiber glass on it so it would heal, the turtle is doing fine, healing as it goes, and now has another turtle to keep him company.
